Trucks, speed and guns sounds like the dream combination, and GearGrinder aims to give you all three in a ridiculously over the top racing game.
This GearGrinder demo is quite generous in what you can try, and you'll certainly know whether you like it or not once you have. It's a truck racing game, essentially, but mixed with street racing style customization and of course each truck has a transform button, which turns your mean machine into a mean machine gunning killing machine.
You can use a gamepad or keyboard to drive, and a gamepad is recommended as the digital control of a keyboard is very frustrating. The control is unfortunately very unresponsive. Whether that is an error, or something realistic about truck driving we can't say, but we can say that it makes racing sluggish and difficult. You struggle to control your truck, let alone beat your opponents. The graphics are quire dark, and are a little out of date, and the sound is nothing to shout about.
Nevertheless, despite these major flaws, it is still fun driving around crushing or machine gunning everything in your way. Much of the scenery can also be destroyed, which is great.
GearGrinders is very rough around the edges, with imprecise controls, too dark graphics and dodgy sound. But it's still amusing!
